Our toolbox to support you
Based on our 40 years experience, we make use of two management approaches for the development and the implementation of your sustainability policy:
- The Theory of Chance, which is useful for your sustainability vision development
- The process of continuous improvement, also known as the Deming circle, which is important for the implementation of your sustainability management system.
With the background of these two management approaches, we can support you with the implementation of your sustainability policy and demonstrate your progress to your customers. This creates value for your business.
The Theory of Change is used for defining your vision of your sustainability objective for the longer term (e.g. 5 – 10 years). Based on this vision, you develop a strategy to achieve these objectives and the associated pathways linking short-term and medium-term goals to your long-term objectives.
The website of the Dairy Sustainability Framework (DSF) includes a paper with additional information.
Demonstrated continuous improvement is an essential part of the sustainability policy of the dairy processor and its supplying farmers.
Based on management literature the Deming circle forms the basis of the continuous improvement process. Plan-Do-Check-Act are the main elements in this approach.
We can support you with developing, implementing, executing, monitoring and adjusting your dairy sustainability policy.
With our support you can demonstrate your level of sustainability to customers and consumers.
Sustainability implementation in 5 stages
The 5 stages maturity model was presented during the IDF World Dairy Summit 2019 in Instanbul. SAI Platform uses the 5 stages maturity model to develop the Sustainable Dairy Partnership methodology.
The methodology consists of five stages in the implementation of the sustainability policy of the dairy company. Each stage consists of 9 elements that supports the implementation of your sustainability policy.
You can request a detailed overview of the 5 stages maturity matrix in order to implement this in your own organisation.
The methodology is based on the well-known Plan-Do-Check-Act approach of the Deming circle.
In an article in FoodBev Magazine you can find detailed description of the 5 stages. You can find the article here.
The practical translation for the dairy sector is based on scientific research conducted by Utrecht University, Wageningen University and Radboud University, all in the Netherlands.
The dedicated and experience consultants of Dairy Sustainability Support were highly involved at the implementation of the methodology and can support you with the implementation and at your dairy company.
